Sunday in Review

Dear OCC Family,

As you know we have started a new rhythm for our worship gatherings.  We now meet the 2nd & 4th Sunday of every month.  I am super excited to see how this increases our connection as we continue to launch more CITYgroups.

At our last gathering, we started a new teaching series on the book of Philippians we are calling VALUES.  We want to take three gatherings to walk through our core values as a church; JESUS, COMMUNITY and MISSION.  First, we looked at Philippians 1 which is rich with Christ centered challenge.  Paul does everything possible to bring our focus closer to the work of Jesus.  I love how Paul doesn’t allow us to simply talk about the gospel, but challenges us to live lives that are worthy of the gospel.

I hope we will continue to remember these three statements.

  1. Jesus will be magnified in my body, whether by life or by death. [Phil. 1:20]
  2. For me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. [Phil. 1:21]
  3. Only let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel. [Phil. 1:27]

“Jesus’ story reshapes our story.”

During the month of February we will look at COMMUNITY and MISSION.  One way to get more out of this teaching is to read Philippians multiple times over the next few weeks.  Journalling is a great way to move slow through a book.  You can even pause to write some prayers centering on what God is teaching you through is Word.  I look forward to looking at Philippians with you.

Remember, “Jesus’ story reshapes our story.”
