our mission 1a

Dear OCC family,

Well, it was the first week of school for students in our area.  This is such a big time of the year for so many families.  I pray things have gone smooth with new teachers, schools and schedules.

For me, September feels like the beginning of a new year in the middle of the year.  It’s the perfect time to hit restart and refocus for the remainder of the year.  I even took time to look back over some of the goals I put in place back in January, to see how things are lining up for 2015.

So, for our worship gathering, we will be looking at the mission of our church.  I want us to answer questions like; What’s been happening?  Where are we going?  How are we going to get there?

It is so vital for all of us to know where we are going and how we are going to get there.  I believe taking time to examine our mission will help us fulfill the command of being in unity of mind and spirit.  Reviewing our mission will remind us of the purpose of our church.  Reviewing our mission will help us refocus and maybe hit restart in some areas.

Here are a few things you can anticipate for tomorrow.

Brandon and Syndey Fryxell have been with our church from the very beginning.  They not only have a passion for life, but a passion for church planting.  They will be starting a CG this month.  So as we like to do, we will take time to highlight what God is doing through them and pray over them as a church.

One thing we love to do as a church is worship our God together with live music.  These gatherings give us time to remind ourselves of the gospel as we lift our voices to our great God and King.  We like to sing songs that bring our focus on God’s work of redemption through Jesus.  You can look forward to worshiping together with your church.

We really love kids and watching them study the Bible.  If you have a child between birth and 4th grade, they can anticipate hanging with kids their age, while learning about what God has done through Jesus.

Worship gatherings are the perfect time to for our pastors to teach from God’s word.  Tomorrow we will look at 2 Corinthians 5.  Paul states specifically with passion what God has accomplished through Jesus and now what is the calling of disciples and the church.  I am very excited to teach this text as we restate and refocus on the mission of OCC.

I look forward to seeing you all tomorrow!  Remember we are now meeting at the…
