Community as Family
When Adam sinned in the garden, that perfect image of God within humanity became damaged. Sin fractured our relationship with our Creator and with one another. We needed restoration. We needed a perfect sacrifice, a Rescuer who could bridge the gap between a holy God and broken humanity.
That Rescuer is Jesus. And because of His death and resurrection, something miraculous happened: we are adopted into the family of God. This is the Gospel, the Good News that changes everything. Through faith in Jesus alone, we become God’s chosen people, brothers and sisters in His family, set apart to live in a way that shows the world who God is and what He is like.
As God’s family, we don’t just believe the right things; we live them out together. Jesus commands us to love one another. He said that the world would know we are His disciples not by our doctrines or our buildings, but by our love for each other. When we love as Jesus loved, we give the world a window into who God is. Our love becomes evidence of the Gospel’s transformative power.
The best way to teach others to follow Jesus’s command to love is to actually live it. We do life together. A lot. We show up for each other in big moments and small ones. We celebrate wins. We walk through losses. We serve one another’s needs, both the practical and the spiritual. We demonstrate that following Jesus means belonging to something bigger than ourselves: a family where you’re known, loved, and called to grow.
