8. The Church

The church is a local community of Jesus followers unified through faith and loving allegiance to Jesus Christ. It is committed to the teachings of Jesus, to obeying all of His commands, and it seeks to bring the gospel to the world. The church works together in love and unity, practices spiritual disciplines, celebrates baptism and the Lord’s Supper, and proclaims the good news of forgiveness and restoration through word and deed.

  • And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father.

    Colossians 3:17

  • “You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.”

    Matthew 5:14-16

  • Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

    Matthew 28:18-20
