Backyard City Club

As a church, we like to take 3 days during the summer to love and engage the children of our city. We host what we call a Backyard City Club for PreK – 5th graders. Backyard City Club is typically in the evening and is full of fun games, crafts, snacks, and a story about Jesus. If you are interested or have any questions about this event, please email us at hello@olycitychurch.com.

Christmas Party

Each Christmas, we turn one of our Reunion or City Group gatherings into a fun and festive event. We share a meal together and always have a great time playing games and enjoying our celebration of Jesus! We create this space intentionally for our church to have the opportunity to invite friends and families to meet their faith family and hear the good news of the gospel of Jesus.

Friendsgiving

Every year around Thanksgiving, we like to change things up a bit. Rather than gather for a Reunion or City Group gathering, we sit around the table for good food, good fellowship, and good fun! We create this space intentionally for our church to have the opportunity to invite friends and families to meet their faith family and hear the good news of the gospel of Jesus.

Race for the City

This event has been on a break since 2018, but we hope to return in the near future. The Race for the City is exactly how it sounds. We host what has traditionally been a 5K at minimal cost. All funds raised from registration fees and most of the funds from corporate/individual sponsors have gone towards local non-profits, with a focus on children. In 4 years of hosting this race, we raised $10,000 for Homeless Backpacks, Fostering Together, and the “For Kids” program at Thurston County Food Bank. If you are interested in volunteering and/or financially supporting this race, please contact us at  hello@olycitychurch.com.

Serve Sunday

The focus of our church is living on mission in the everyday, and serving those within our family and around us when needs arise. Living this way is valuable to us, and our church makes it a priority to engage in both pro-active and re-active mission. That said, opportunity arises from time to time (once or twice per year) where we are able to come together to work toward one collective mission on one dedicated day: Serve Sunday. We take this day, and rather than gathering for a Reunion or City Group gathering, we are sent out as a church into the community to be the hands and feet of Jesus.

Summer Celebration

Each year, our church gathers together near the end of the summer to reconnect relationally before another year of living on mission together. We use this time to recreate and laugh together, enjoy great food, and have our annual cornhole tournament (with prizes). Weather permitting, we also love to use this time to celebrate decisions to follow Jesus baptisms!
